Solutions To Insufficient Resources Of Surveillance And Security Cameras!

Jul 24, 2022

During the installation of security camera monitoring, many people encounter the problem of "insufficient resources" or "reaching the upper limit" of performance on the picture of hard disk video recorder. Novices will choose to restart the video recorder when encountering such a problem, but several times of repeated discovery cannot solve it.

First of all, this phenomenon of insufficient prompt resources is not the hardware failure of security cameras or video recorders. Today we will look at the causes and solutions together with you.

When the decoding and display performance of the video recorder exceeds a certain upper limit, that is to say, the video recorder is unable to display the picture of the camera, then it will prompt "insufficient resources".

As we mentioned in the previous article, when the video recorder displays the picture of the security camera, it will try to obtain two channels of video by default, that is, the main code stream and the sub code stream.

Generally speaking, the main code stream is HD video, and the sub code stream is Puqing video. The resolution of the main code stream is much larger than that of the sub code stream, so the full screen single picture of the video recorder is the main code stream, four pictures take the main code stream by default, and nine pictures or more take the sub code stream by default. However, if the main code stream of the window exceeds the capacity of the video recorder, it will automatically switch to the sub code stream.

Understand the above, then:

"Insufficient resources" appears when encountering a single screen.

In this case, the video recorder only decodes one channel of video, and there is insufficient resources, which means that the resolution of the connected security camera exceeds the single channel decoding ability of the video recorder. For example, a video recorder can support up to 4million decoding in one channel, and when you access 8million security cameras, it naturally exceeds the main code stream, resulting in "insufficient resources".

"Insufficient resources" appears when encountering multiple pictures.

In this case, the total decoding capacity of the video recorder has reached the upper limit. In actual cases, in most cases, the sub code stream of the camera is not obtained, and the decoding of the main code stream has reached the upper limit, resulting in "insufficient resources".

We need to log in to the background to check the resolution and code stream of the sub code stream, reset the sub code stream, restart IPC and NVR, and reconnect to see whether we can obtain the sub code stream. There are also some old versions of video recorders. The reason why there are insufficient resources for previewing multiple pictures is that they cannot automatically switch the sub code stream decoding.

In another case, there is "insufficient resources" in the playback video of the video recorder. Because the playback is high-definition video of the main code stream, when multiple channels are played back together, reaching the upper limit of the decoding capacity of the video recorder equipment, there will also be insufficient resources.

Note: the front-end security camera and the back-end video recorder should be compatible with each other to minimize failures. Therefore, when selecting security cameras and video recorders, the same brand should be preferred. If it is not the same brand, it is also necessary to choose a network security camera that supports the standard onvif protocol.
