Types Of Security Cameras

Aug 09, 2013

Currently, there are various security cameras on the market for us to choose from. Which one should I choose? From which aspects to consider? Analog camera or digital camera? The first thing to consider is whether you are willing to configure a router or WIFI, that is, to deal with network-related things, if you want, you can choose a digital webcam. If you don't want to, you will be more willing to choose CCTV, that is, AHD (analog high definition) camera and DVR (digital hard disk video recorder). The operation of CCTV is a DVR and an analog camera connected through a coaxial cable and a BNC connector. The DVR digitizes the analog video stream and stores it on the local hard drive. Nowadays, most DVRs have such a function, which integrates video streams from different cameras (or called channels), stores and views them locally, or transmits them over the network. Users can remotely access them through a web browser or client program. Home consumption camera or industry camera? There are two types of digital security surveillance cameras: consumer cameras and industrial cameras. Consumer cameras are mainly installed in consumers' homes, indoors or outdoors. It can be in the form of a camera or a doorbell. These cameras use the vendor's proprietary communication protocol to achieve point-to-point communication, that is, the video stream is transmitted to the mobile app through the local network according to demand. In many applications, vendors will embed motion detection algorithms in the camera. Once a motion state is detected, the video will be pushed to the cloud storage server for consumers to view later, and a notification message will be pushed for consumers at the same time. However, limited by the computing power of consumer cameras, the motion detection algorithm is not so reliable, which will generate a large number of false alarms. Currently, this type of consumer camera is also called a smart security camera in the market. The following figure shows a typical household and consumer camera:
